Home and Away Cattery is a family-run
boarding cattery, established in 1993 by
owner Paula Bamlet.
Paula organises your cat's stay
from the family's nearby farmhouse, in a
beautiful and peaceful setting
on the edge of Dorchester.
Step inside the attractive L-shaped cattery
and you'll find a reception area, corridor
and two-deck heated sleeping accommodation.
There are 24 pens, including a family pen.
Paula treats each guest as if it were
her own, and is happy for you to make an appointment to look around.
"People treat their cats like children,"
she emphasises, "so you can only
have a relaxing holiday if you are confident
that your pet is in safe hands."
Many cats return regularly when their owners
take a week or weekend break but if
you're treating yourself to a longer
seasonal holiday, your pet will enjoy its
own fresh environment.
Flowering shrubs surround the airy, wooden
structure which overlooks a paddock housing
a pet sheep called Homer. Paula explains:
"One cat spent three and a half happy
months here while his owners were between
homes. Each cat is fed to its individual
requirements, its coat brushed and its eyes
The pens are sterilised between boarders
and all guests must arrive with appropriate vaccination certificates.
Paula's enthusiasm is certainly infectious.
"Owners notice that I've picked
up on their cats' little quirks and habits,
which is probably why we have so many regular
